Throughout history, we have witnessed how religion — one of the most sacred forces in human life — has been twisted into a tool of manipulation and power. When the purity of faith meets the greed of politics, what emerges is not devotion but distortion.
When Faith Is Twisted Into Voilence
Terrorism is one of the darkest examples of how religion is misused. Extremist groups twist sacred teachings, take verses out of context, and use them as weapons to misguide the youth of their own communities. They convince young minds that violence is holy, that hatred is justified and that harming others is somehow a way to please God. But no religion teaches such things. These are human manipulations, political and selfish in nature, dressed up in the name of faith.
What extremists fail to understand is that faith cannot be built on fear. Religion cannot be imposed through bullets, threats or bombs. Even if someone is forced to chant slogans of another faith, deep inside their heart they will still be praying to the God they truly believe in, begging for strength and deliverance.
True devotion can never be forced. A chant, when spoken by a believer, comes from the depths of the heart as a pure expression of love for God. When it is forced upon someone who does not believe, it becomes nothing more than an empty sentence.
The Politics Behind Division
Behind many acts of violence carried out in the name of faith lies not religion, but politics. Extremism often begins not with scripture, but with strategy. Certain leaders and organizations exploit poverty, unemployment, and ignorance to recruit followers. They manufacture enemies to maintain control, using the illusion of "religious war" to mask their personal hunger for power, land, or influence.
They understand that nothing unites a crowd faster than fear — fear of the "other." And so they build narratives of hatred, convincing people that defending their religion means destroying someone else's. But religion never needed defenders with guns. It needs believers with understanding.
These political games thrive in environments where people are uninformed and emotionally vulnerable — where education is weak and critical thinking is absent.
The Equal Value of Every Life
Violence against innocent people can never be justified — regardless of who the victims are or where they come from.
Yet, in today's world, many people show selective outrage. If injustice takes place in two different parts of the world, against two different communities, and you choose to feel only for the one you belong to, then you are not truly human.
Humanity means feeling the pain of others, even when their faith, culture or nation is different from yours.
A compassionate heart does not divide suffering by religion.
It recognizes that every innocent life lost is a loss for all of us.
Education Without Values Is Not Enough
Some recent events make us question whether education truly prevents extremism. After all, even highly educated individuals have been found participating in acts of hatred and violence. But this does not mean education is meaningless; it simply means academic degrees alone do not guarantee wisdom, morality, or empathy.
Extremism is not the failure of education; it is the victory of manipulation over conscience. A person may master science and still remain spiritually empty. They may memorize facts but never learn values. They may earn titles, yet lack the humanity that makes a person truly educated.
The Kind of Education That Matters
What we truly need is not just academic learning, but moral and ethical understanding.
An education that teaches:
- The difference between right and wrong
- The value of compassion over hatred
- The courage to question harmful narratives
- The strength to stand against manipulation
This kind of education shapes both the mind and the heart.
And that is exactly what extremism fears.
Final Thought
In the end, true faith does not shout, threaten, or destroy.
It heals.
It unites.
It elevates.
And no matter how powerful manipulation becomes, it can never replace one simple truth:
A heart guided by compassion will always be stronger than a mind driven by hatred.
